Introduction
These maps cover the period from 1803 to the present day in four sections. The first three scenes mark some of the significant events in the History of Christianity for this period. This is not an exhaustive chronology but can be used guide to some of the themes which are covered in this course. The first section covers the period from 1803 to 1865, that is from the Louisiana Purchase to the American Civil War and prior to the Scramble for Africa, and the second the period from 1865 to the Edinburgh Missionary Conference in 1910. The third scene shows events from 1910 to the present. The fourth section shows the spread of Christianity, in the context of the religious traditions of the world, at the end of the 20th century.
